Kashong Timrawon (Lilium mackliniae)
Popularly known as Shirui LIly, it is the state flower of Manipur and thrives only at an elevation of 1700-2500m in the cool grasslands of Shirui peak in Ukhrul district. It is rare because it cannot be transplanted in any part of the world. It typically blooms between May-June every year.
It was documented in 1946 by the British botanist Frank Kindon-Ward who named it Lilium mackliniae in honour of his wife, Jean Macklin.
