Kundo (Jasminum jambec)

In a Meitei wedding ceremony, the garlands used for both the bride and groom are traditionally made from Kundo (Mogra in Hindi). On the morning of the wedding, the bride herself makes the garlands flanked by her friends of family members in an intimate yet meaningful ritual. While this custom was once exclusively carried out with female relatives or friends, changing times have seen brothers also taking part in this cherished tradition.
